Founded by Michael Crowe in Phoenix, Arizona, Southwest Mushrooms operates a working commercial mushroom farm with a focus on Lion's Mane, oyster varieties, and functional species. The tinctures we ship are made from the fruits coming out of our grow rooms. The liquid cultures we sell are the same working strains running our production. The books, audiobooks, and SOPs are written from the same protocols we use, not commissioned for the page.

Two HEPA flow stations, an industrial pressure sterilizer, and a culture library that runs Lion's Mane, oysters, Reishi, Maitake, Turkey Tail, Chestnut, and more. The lab is the bottleneck for everything else; it is also where the protocols are written.
Commercial blocks, every day.
Substrate is mixed, bagged, and sterilized on-site. Production blocks are inoculated from working liquid cultures and tracked from spawn to harvest. What goes into tinctures and what gets sold as cultures comes from the same rooms.

Multiple climate-controlled rooms tuned per species. Shiitake on bare blocks, Lion's Mane in cascading pin sets, oysters running cluster after cluster. Every photo on this site is from these rooms, not stock.
