Southwest Mushrooms Is Back — And Growing Stronger Than Ever
A Personal Note from Michael Crowe
After some quiet time behind the scenes, I’m incredibly excited to announce that Southwest Mushrooms is officially back online — and stepping into a powerful new chapter. The website is open, fulfillment is live, and we’ve made some exciting changes that I can’t wait to share.
Over the years, I’ve built this farm from the ground up — from hand-mixing substrate in buckets to delivering fresh fungi around Phoenix. For a long time, I was doing it all myself, but like a true mycelial network, this venture is growing beyond just me.
Welcoming a New Partner & Production Expansion
I'm proud to share that I’ve partnered with a fellow mycologist — a former student of mine — who now operates his own facility. He’s taking the lead on block production, cultivation, and processing for Southwest Mushrooms moving forward.
This facility is getting outfitted with a new autobagging line, which means faster turnaround and higher efficiency — without compromising quality. This upgrade gives me the freedom to focus more deeply on the parts I love most: genetics, lab development, and building community through education and support.

A Journey Into Mycology – Coming Soon
To everyone who’s been patiently awaiting the release of my first book — thank you.
Book 1: A Journey Into Mycology is almost here. We hit a few small delays during the final editing and formatting phase, but trust me — it’ll be well worth the wait. This book distills years of experience, failures, insights, and hard-won lessons into a tool I hope will guide and inspire growers at all levels.
Expect the release very, very soon, right here on the site.
Thank You for Growing With Us
To everyone who’s supported Southwest Mushrooms — from early workshops to grow kit customers, chefs, and fellow cultivators — thank you. Your encouragement and patience have fueled this next phase, and I can’t wait to see what we’ll grow together.
If you’re ready to reconnect with the fungi, get your hands dirty, and try something deeply rewarding — we’re here to help you every step of the way.
With gratitude,
Michael Crowe
